The AAM Institute, in close collaboration with Gradient Co-Working, will commission a local mural artist to produce an original portrait of Bessie Coleman in time for the next Aviation Arts Festival. We hope it will become a Tulsa Landmark that the whole community can be proud of!

Next, we will commission a life-sized bronze statue of Bessie Coleman and her 'Jenny' aircraft from the 1920s. For this effort we will need support from the greater Oklahoma community to source the Patrons and Donations necessary in time for the following Festival.

In 3 years time, we aspire to raise the funds to launch the first Electric Aviation Academy in Oklahoma - right here in Tulsa. Accessibility requires Affordability and if society is sincere about investing in the next generation of aviators then we must provide opportunities for everyone to learn.

Gather your little ones for story time with the National Air and Space Museum. Museum educator Ann Caspari will read an original story about the pioneering pilot Bessie Coleman, with sketches by museum educator Diane Kidd. After the story, Ann will lead us in a craft activity to make biplane models using paper towel tubes, paper, and tape.
Flights of Fancy Storytime is made possible through the generous support of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation.
“What I hope is common to me and Bessie is the smile of adventure, self-determination, and dogged will to see beauty in the world even as ugly things happen around us and to us. I point to Bessie Coleman and say without hesitation that here is a woman, a being, who exemplifies and serves as a model to all humanity: the very definition of strength, dignity, courage, integrity, and beauty.”
